3 reasons to visit Dubrovnik
There are many reasons for visiting Dubrovnik, whether you are someone who really wants to learn about culture and history of this town, or to simply enjoy the beautiful Old town, café’s, and restaurants of this coastal place. We emphasize 3 interesting things that make this excursion different than any other.
1. Medieval walls of Old Town
As the majority of coastal towns on the Mediterranean, Dubrovnik also has its Old Town. The fact that it’s so famous in comparison to other places is reaffirmed by a record number of 10,338 visits in one day! Ramparts take the most credit for that. There are 17 towers, 120 cannons, 4 main gates, and all of that is found on the medieval walls up to 25 meters high and 6 meters wide. Whether you watch them from inside the town, or you wish to walk along these legendary medieval walls, you can have each experience through this excursion.
2. Dubrovnik on movies
One can often see Dubrovnik on big screens. Even though we recommend you to see it live and up close, you might have already seen it in the show Game of Thrones, which was filmed in Dubrovnik. Did you know that this town was also a set for filming of Star Wars: Episode VIII? Furthermore, the movie Robin Hood, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, was being filmed in Dubrovnik, in 2017.
3. Lord Byron on Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik isn’t only loved today, and by so many tourists around the globe, but it had started getting compliments long ago. It drew attention of Lord Byron, who declared Dubrovnik to be the pearl of the Adriatic, in 19th century. Even the famous writer Bernard Shaw wrote about it: “The ones who are searching for heaven on earth should come to Dubrovnik.”
