We will visit Skadar, Drač and Tirana
Our excursion to Albania includes Skadar, Drač, and the capital – Tirana. Before we go there, read a few interesting things that you can expect in these towns and cities.
Skadar
As soon as we cross the border with Albania, we arrive in a nice town on Skadar lake, called Skadar. This town is one of those that have, since long ago, been on merchant crossings. That position made its impact on colorful exuberance of this town. Skadar is a unique town in Albania due to many things. Skadar fortress, Rozafa, that originates from Illyrian times, the biggest mosque in Albania – are situated here, as well as a series of educational institutions, and magnificent restaurants, too.
Drač
We continue our excursion from Skadar from the coast of the lake, moving to a town on the Adriatic shore, a town named Drač. It is a touristic center of Albania, thus we couldn’t skip it in our trip. Its popularity is reaffirmed by up to 600,000 tourist each year. It has a nice combination of Old Town and “New Town“, with boulevards and promenades. Its closeness to Tirana, as well as it being the biggest port, and a combination of “old“ and “new“ – makes it a special town in Albania.
Tirana
Our outing continues in Tirana. The capital city is characterized by various architecture styles, which is easily noticed, and it is a result of multiple impacts throughout history, all the way to antique ones. This colorfulness is not noticeable only through architecture, but through every segment of society. In Tirana, you can hear ceaseless buzzing of motorcycles, murmur of pedestrians and merchants. Therefore, when you stand aside for a bit, drink coffee and eat one of fantastic treats that you can try here, you get the notion of watching a kind of a live show, of people that walk, talk, and shop busily. That’s why we will spare 2 hours for our visit to Tirana – so that you could experience this city in the right way.
